Lift and or claw system
Okay here is one I don't think has been said yet me I would not leave my ship unless I absolutely had to and I would almost always be playing with friends so they could go down and get the supplies we need I would more then likely land on the planet make repairs launch the vehicle then retreat to high orbit where I would provide support from above. Now lets say my friends were to get into trouble and they would need to get out fast what about a system where you could lower a claw or platform without fully landing on the planet to be able to get your friends and still get out in one piece it would add in a whole new area for adventure when you got an in and out kind of thing going on and to balance out speed with cost it would more then likely cost more fuel to be at a low hover then to actually land

that would work with hover craft but not in the way I was thinking more along the lines of S:1 episode 2 of firefly where the serenity has the wench with the claw at the end to lift up the cargo and I also would like some ships to have the door on the bottom of the ship

Re: Lift and or claw system
The idea of a quick evac is kind of what we have talked about recently. Talking about trying to lift and drop cargo as well. We had talked a possible winch system so maybe that way its possible. But it seemed that an escape pod system was a no go, although this is opposite; trying to get back to the ship. Not quite sure how that would go with the devs idea of trying to keep everyone together. I personally like it. Its splitting people up with out really since one person is keeping active watch from above.

Hmm, personally I think that the hovercraft idea would add more excitement to some situations but the claw would be more useful in more situations (cargo, evac, dropping large objects on enemies ), as for evac with the claw, maybe just drive the truck underneath the ship and the claw picks it right up?

A claw would definetlely be awesome in a number of scenarios. I think it should be included.

Personally I would like to see a few more ways far maybe a person to stay with the ship and provide tactical and information support it isn't totally splitting up the team because the person in the ship would have to stay in contact with their team allowing for a more organized effort and because it would add to the survival part of the game if the pilot was good he would be ready for giving evac and info while keeping the ship out of harms way bad pilot you lose a people and possibly a ship and have to wait for rescue

Yeah in both options (claw or hovercar) there has to be somebody in the ship that can come and help them out, either by using the claw or opening the door and managing speed to let the hovercar in.

Why not just have a remote control, then nobody would have to stay on the ship. But of course somebody could stay on the ship. Thats completely up to the player, i guess. I dont see a way to prevent it, and i dont see why either.

Re: Lift and or claw system
i feel like i would use a claw to fly by some asshole's base and yank one of their cargo containers real quick.
Re: Lift and or claw system
I'd then come back and drop it on said asshole.

Rope/joints physics are kinda tricky/buggy as heck...
You could lower the cargo bay doors and do a low hover whilst providing some main cannon fire support while your crew jump aboard or drive up the hovercraft! Or the classic leap of faith from a high point to the cargo ramp over a deadly drop like a cliff edge....oooOOoO trailer ideas...SLOW MOTION

Just the fact that we will be able to do that is amazing and makes me want to play the game even moreMarrowmatt wrote:Rope/joints physics are kinda tricky/buggy as heck...

That does seem like a great idea, I'd support the lift.
