Ship/land vehicle customization

I'd really like to see the ability to name your ship/land vehicle implemented in the game, and then maybe displaying it on the side of the craft or something like that. It'd be pretty cool to be able to give your ship a "paintjob" too. Don't ask me how you'd do that, but it's just an idea.

Yes it would be cool if those things were implemented oh wait a minute that is totally a feature in this game!, ofc you can name your ship i believe matt's exact words were "im not making a game where you can't name your ship!"

As far as giving it a paint job there is a possibility of us adopting the simplistic style that we included in our prototype. If this happens players will actually be able to change the RGB values on the colour of their ship letting them have complete control over its colours

We have also talked about various ways we could display the name on the side of ship and yes it will be incorporated as well.

YES! Then i can finally have my own name displayed on the side of a awesome, pink ship
But on a bit more serious note, i'm very glad you're considering sticking to a bit more simplistic texture, since the one in the ship tour looked really good.

Colors and names are cool. I used to do that when I played Need for Speed 15 years ago. There needs to be structural customization or something. When you think sandbox you think legos or knex. If you don't have building blocks you have a simplistic rpg with a vast open world. What I don't want is Mass Effect but where I have to eat soup or I die.

There will be structural customization, at least on some sort of scale, but expect it to be planet-side...

excellent. as long as it's there somewhere. building a massive structure that you could fly your ship right into would be awesome.
