Boarding

One feature that would be pretty awesome would be the ability to board enemy ships fx. You're in an intense dogfight and one of your mates grab a spacesuit and head over to the enemy's ship and sabotage their stuff. I'm not sure if this is posibble, but i certainly think it would be cool Very Happy

Yes boarding is something that we are absolutely for and has been included in the Games Design Document. Strategicly targeting an enemies ships engines to disable them and then climbing aboard to mop up the rest of the crew Very Happy it is something that will be included in the final game Smile

We're thinking of instancing the boarded ship environments so we can have allot more action and drama during these moments. There are all sorts of structures in space you can board, with different running themes.

You mean like a stun gun or a setting on your weapon where it just incaps and doesn't kill?

That idea did float around for a bit....we laughed at the idea of having a slave cage on board your ship...we were worried what it might do to the age rating...

Why not call them "prisoners" instead of "slaves." Would that allow for the same mechanic without the detriment to age rating?

But how will that boarding will be? It will be wery cool to board the enemy ship ala Star Wars style or somthing similar!

If it was a level based game it would be totally possible, the ship to be boarded would be static...but its a sandbox sooo....it poses a lot more issues...We're a small team, and to make two dynamic environments that move... which the player can traverse between is....challenging...

Like battlefront 2 space fights, and you could fly into the enemy ships hangers....those ships never actually moved, and their rotation was always 0,0,0 so they could use the default world gravity... they could have made them move provided they only rotated with YAW only. Then the world gravity would still have made sense...providing the player doesnt slip and slide around inside the ship..
