Space Stations/Shipyards Empty Space Stations/Shipyards

Post by Bandus Fri Apr 26, 2013 6:39 pm

From this thread: https://brightspritegames.forumotion.co.uk/t14-ship-land-vehicle-customization

It was stated that there possibly will be structural modifications done to ships "planetside." Then in this thread here: https://brightspritegames.forumotion.co.uk/t18-boarding

It states that there will be: "All sorts of structures in space to board..."

Has it been considered that for larger structural modifications or additions that the player would need to construct a space station/shipyard type structure in space and dry dock their vessel before making modifications? I feel like this would allow a player to ultimately have a place/planet orbit they call "home." On this particular planet itself one might be able to construct buildings or what not (space elevator maybe?) to transport materials to the space station to construct these structural addons and what not.

Just some thoughts that came to me while reading through existing threads!

Certain upgrades/repairs to your ship will require you to be landed. You won't be able to construct your own space station, but their will be structures in space you can claim or takeover, such as asteroid bases, in a similar way to land bases you can find planet side.

We haven't fully fleshed out all the features for player bases yet, it's still in discussion. But we're toying with some ideas.

However there are several hidden bases that you can capture and take over. You can store ships here, refuel, store gear and many other things.

Hope that helps a bit any more questions just ask

Yes, some are openly obvious...some will be harder to locate...E.g...in the back of an asteroid...

Will you be able to set up automated defense turrets on and around your base (whether in space or planetside) in order to help you defend your base from pirates and hostile locals?

Atm there are no plans for this but it definitely sounds like a good idea, we shall keep it in mind and see how the rest of the community feels.
