I just had an idea!
In case the devs need inspiration regarding ships, planets and bases etc. everyone could post one or more of their ideas in the comment section. I just wanna hear if the devs think this is a good idea though, but if it is, i'm gonna come with the first suggestion.

If anyone ever saw the movie Prometheus (never did myself unfortunaly), i think the ship Prometheus looked really cool (from the trailers at least).
So my suggestion is a ship ala Prometheus, smaller of course but the same style (four main moveable engines, landing gear on the engine nozzles etc.). I would defenitely fly it Very Happy

So suggest all you want. Its free!

Honestly the most amazing ship i could imagine would be one that's too big to land on a planet.  You Have to take a ship about the size in the mini game (plus a rover bay) to the planet to do gathering.


Then you have to worry about maintaining 2 ships not just one

That's a cool idea, but there's no way a ship in the size that your thinking would be dynamic (moveable) it would be too greedy on performance. It would have to be a static and baked up object.

Speaking of exoskeletons (and my recent crazy binge of playing Planetside 2), what about a suit, like the MAXes, for mining? Instead of being armed battle, have drills, grabbers, and shovel-like attachments that you can equip to each arm. Maybe some kind of weaponry but not to the extent of the death machines in Planetside 2. Also, I would consider these exo suits more like vehicles that can be entered and exited.

(Each factions MAX in Planetside2) (The 2 on the right were more of what I was thinking of)

Well, it's certainly a good idea, but i meant more like a tight suit, like the Dead Space one. I don't think however that should be considered a vehicle, but its own form of equipment, which would be able to be upgraded, replaced, colored and so on.

Thanks for the references guys, I'll check out Fonte's work, we won't be budgeting for any more concept work until the kickstarter funding has come through...fingers crossed.

In the topic of a ship suggestion, i would want to see a ship that resembles the "morningstar" from a game with the same name (it is free, yust a small point and click, if you want to check) either you could do the morningstar or the "UNS armstrong" (same game)

PS its my first post, but i have been reading the forums since the beginning, it was yust a few days ago that i noticed i wasnt beeing able to post because i was using an ipad

Also the rifle seen on the game and the concept of the take off landing for spaceships (wich includes mini wings to help stabilize) would be a good idea to base some of the game stuff

PS i would be delighted if i end up seeing a ship in the game that resembles the Star Wars consular-class (yea the red one in the beginning of episode 1, they made an armed version too)

As for me, I like the feeling that the ship is my (mobile) home, my base. The design needs to be interesting to move through, upgradeable, interactive, functional. As for gameplay, an overarching mission- I love open ended exploration, but I like to feel like I at least have some (very) long term goal to acheive. It doesn't have to be much, maybe even just a journey home. Lots of short term goals along the way can, if the game is created right, be self made and very satisfying. By that I mean, look at Minecraft for example: self made goals are often things like: find N amount of ore X (not because some random quest giver asked you to, but because you NEED it for something you are building). Or: Build shelter, expand shelter, defend crops, get a horse, etc. Short term, self determined goals that the rewards are meaningful and needed to survive. Hope this is making sense so far.
Then there is the long term goal: find a way into the END and defeat the ender dragon using all the awesome stuff you've created, etc. The long term goal can be put off indefinitely and how you get there is entirely up to you, but it's there.

Our game has an end goal, we don't want to talk about it too much we would rather let you guys figure it out for yourselves but it basically involves bringing together all of the smaller game play features, side quests, building up your character, it's all needed for the 'finale' so to speak. But it'll be open ended you can always continue playing allowing us to add in more content and stuff if needed, we also would like it to be a repeatable experience with lots of top tier rewards that you might need in order to take on any additional content we throw in.
