Build an economy?
Hi,
Its really awesome what you guys are doing so keep up the good work! What is planned and/or possible for some form of an economy?
Example : Clear some land, build a building, hire workers, once your products are ready you can despatch it through a trade caravan on that planet? Or have it stored somewhere, and pick it up with your ship to sell it on a different planet?
Also : You mentioned somewhere that a player could own multiple ships, but only control 1 at a time. Will it be possible to recruit an AI crew, and have that crew use your ship to distribute goods that you bought or created yourself? At the risk of you losing your ship ofcourse.. What is the point of having a fancy space ship in a dock? Anyone in their right mind would try and make some money with it right?
For example look at the game Port Royale 3 : you can own multiple ships and have them run trade routes. Will this be something you guys are considering or would consider?

From my understanding not much of this will be possible and you should probably look to star citizen or the x series (X3 Terran Conflict for example).
The idea of running a an industry, at least to me sounds like it would go against the idea of a survival game.
That having been said there has been talk allowing mining bots that you can leave on asteroids and come back and pick up ore later, so I don't know.

Cheers Logan for clearing most of that question up Litheon, the industry and economy idea is a very good one but at the same time Logan is right we are creating a survival game, its more a dayz harsh environment always being aware sort of situation than trying to establish your self on these planets.
However there are several hidden bases that you can capture and take over. You can store ships here, refuel, store gear and many other things.

Will these hidden bases that players can take over have friendly NPCs in them, for example maybe mercenaries that the player can hire so that the base isn't taken back?

We haven't finished the details of player bases just yet, we will let you know once we are better informed ourselves.
